Q. What are the qualifications of your counselors?
A. The counselors are either Certified Financial Health Counselors, certified by the Association of Financial Health Counselors, or have experience and background in providing credit counseling for no less than two (2) years from this date and have obtained this experience on or after January 1, 2003.
Once you have entered your financial information as part of a free credit counseling session, you will be provided with an e-mail address to contact our qualified counselors for assistance.
Q. I am unable to initially provide the information requested by this website without personalized assistance. Can I get personalized assistance from ConsumerBankruptcyCounseling.info so as to enable me to initially provide the information requested by this website?
A. No. ConsumerBankruptcyCounseling.info does not provide any personalized assistance so as to enable you to initially provide the information requested by this website.
Q. Where does that leave me?
A. When you find yourself in this position, you cannot use ConsumerBankruptcyCounseling.info to obtain your certificate of counseling. Instead you must find an alternative provider of certificates of completion.
Q. What alternative providers of certificates of completion exist?
A. You may wish to consider using a credit counseling service which, like ConsumerBankruptcyCounseling.info, is properly authorized to issue certificates of completion by the Executive Office for the United States Trustee, United States Department of Justice, but which credit counseling service is not exclusively internet based as ConsumerBankruptcyCounseling.info is. A list of such providers (typically fee-based) is contained on this website under “Referrals”. In addition, providers of credit counseling services that are not exclusively internet based (typically fee-based) often advertise on the right hand side of this site. These providers, however, are in no way recommended by or affiliated with ConsumerBankruptcyCounseling.info
Q. Are there any other alternatives that will allow me to obtain my certificate of counseling?
A. You may also choose to start the process of getting your certificate of counseling by first going to a lawyer. That lawyer can then, among other things, personally assist you in initially providing the information requested by this website. Lawyers specializing in consumer bankruptcy matters often advertise on the right hand side of this site. These lawyers, however, are in no way recommended by or affiliated with ConsumerBankruptcyCounseling.info
Q. I think I properly completed all the information requested by this website, but still did not receive a certificate of counseling. How do I get a certificate of counseling?
A. If you believe you have not received a certificate of counseling in error, you should e-mail us at counselor@ConsumerBankruptcyCounseling.info and ConsumerBankruptcyCounseling.info will respond by e-mail to your inquiry as soon as possible (i) with a certificate of counseling; or (ii) with a reason why one was not sent you; (iii) keeping in mind that the most typical reason no certificate of counseling was sent you is that you failed to make a follow-up request for a certificate of counseling at the time you initially provided the information requested by this website.
Q. When should I expect to get my certificate of counseling?
A. ConsumerBankruptcyCounseling.info does not guaranty prompt delivery. Once you have completed the internet data entry portion of the credit counseling, your counseling session is NOT over and you will NOT get a certificate of counseling until one of our counselors has contacted you through e-mail communication.
A counselor will review your entries and e-mail you an analysis and possible solutions to your financial situation, usually within 24 hours of your submitting all necessary information. Once you have adequately reviewed the counselor’s comments, you will be able to access the portion of the site that will enable you to receive your certificate of counseling. Your certificate will be e-mailed to you and/or your attorney, usually within one business day of completion of all aspects of the necessary counseling. From beginning to end this process may take up to 3-5 business days.
If you believe this delay in getting your FREE Certificate of Counseling will be detrimental to you, you may want to contact another provider which is not exclusively internet based in the way ConsumerBankruptcyCounseling.info is.
Q. In an emergency filing situation, can this normal two day time frame for delivery of a certificate of counseling somehow be speeded up?
A. Not at this time. We hope to expand our service to allow for this as our usage increases and the number of our credit counselors increases accordingly.
